Alexis Desirea Alvarado.

I am a voice actor because I love entertaining. When I was a young child, I loved to quote movies to make my family and friends laugh. My grandmother used to tell me “Mija you should be a comedian!” but of course I thought I was going to be Alexis Alvarado: Dentist Ballerina! In a way, I wasn’t wrong. As a voice over artist, I can be any character I want. I loved trying to be witty like Bugs Bunny, or loud and silly like Iago the parrot. Even still as a 30 year old, I enjoy all types of cartoons; Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Nickelodeon, Disney, PBS, even YouTube and old internet cartoons like Lone Star Runner and classics like Peanut Butter Jelly Time. My parents would always refer to me as a goofball, and my close friends would agree. My love for entertaining pushed me to spend my entire undergrad in my hometown of Chelsea, MI, from kindergarten through graduation in music programs. I studied theatre programs, forensics, and after school arts doing local theatre and local dance. During that time it was always a hobby for me, and I believed I would follow my father into the engineering world to make a career for myself. It was a pleasant surprise to me that my parents were willing to send me to college for music, a dream come true! I earned a Bachelor of Music Performance in Opera as a Mezzo Soprano with a Minor in Theatre Performance. My four years at Hiram College in Ohio were both diligent and magical. I went into working with small engine machines at Weingartz for four years before finding the Such a Voice program. A co-worker at Weingartz and I would always quote T.V. shows like Family guy or Fairly Odd Parents to make each other or our whole office laugh. One of my strongest talents is being able to emulate sounds from characters to animals and even objects and inventions. Friends and family would describe me as a jukebox, or even a parrot for my recognizable quotes and sounds. I really do love to entertain and make people laugh. Whether it’s spinning Poi at a music festival, belly dancing to EDM, or riding up 5,000 feet in a Cessna for a hop ’n pop skydive and climbing 100 feet up The Red in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, I will always use my voice to find a way to bring happiness to everyone around me
